What is the issue?
So much food is wasted every day due to food going bad. Food waste is contributing to our ever-growing ecological footprint. Many times this is due to planning issues.
what can be done?
My solution is a website or app that can sort through everything the user has in their home and make an algorithm based on the urgency to use the product before it goes bad. the algorithm filters out recipes with ingredients that need to be bought to minimize store trips.
Why not just go to RESTAURANTS or get READY made meals?
There are several reasons not to get ready-made meals. readymade meals are worse for the environment than wasting food because of the fuel that is burned to transport the ingredients and work the machines, it is better just to make the food at home. As for restaurants they tend to use everything, and even the parts that they dont serve to guests they find a way to use such as making stock or using it in family meals (the meal they serve to the staff). The problem with restaurants is that it is more expensive to buy meals going for a minimum of 15 dollars for one burger. That money can be stretched out better depending on how you use it buy buying individual ingredients. meaning more meals for less money.
